Slice of Japan is a personal blog dedicated to my interests in anime, manga and all or anything Japanese. As an ex-youth-exchangee, I’ll also be writing about my experiences in Japan once in a while, along with anime and manga that I find interesting. My interest in anime and manga I suppose “officially” began back in 2000/2001 when I was introduced to a fansubbed naruto series, and I loved it, the story, the animations and just the genre itself. Since then I’ve been a pretty big fan of anime, manga and virtually anything Japanese. My interest in the Japanese language and Japan pretty much began in 2001, when I started learning Japanese as a second language in high school, and learned quite a bit about its culture and history, and have been loving Japanese culture since.
But I suppose it’s because I was learning Japanese that I was introduced to the whole anime fandom to begin with.As for animation in general, as I kid I’ve always loved cartoons and drawings. My parents used to send to the the equivalent of summer school craft/drawing classes to occupy my a month and a half break since I liked arty stuff so much. So I guess it’s a natural progression that as I grew up a lil’ bit more, I grew out of those “American cartoons” as many people call them and got into some more “serious animation” :p Though, I have to admit, I was exposed to anime (the old school stuff, like doremon, sailormoon, dragon ball) as a kid, but just never knew it as “anime”.
A bit about me though, I’m a 19 year old girl who’s currently in her second year university student living in Australia. Because of uni commitments, I don’t get to watch anime or read manga as much as I like it, so I’m more of a casual observer more so than a hardcore otaku as some of my mates are. Besides anime and manga, I’m also interested in photography, badminton, reading (the good ‘ol pass time that almost no one in this generation seems interested in any more 
), tech-stuff, music, movies, traveling and just general hanging out with some good buddies.
